General Anthony McAuliffe
General Anthony Clement McAuliffe
General McAuliffe was born on July 2, 1898. Known for providing the German army the word "Nuts" to their surrender request while he commanded the 101st Airborne as they were surrounded in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944. In January of 1945, McAuliffe assumed command of the 103rd Infantry Division until V-E day. He died August 11, 1975.
