On August 15th, 1944 the 45th Infantry Division, also known as "Thunderbirds", were assigned to VI Corps of the U.S. Seventh Army, with the assignment of participating in the invasion of southern coast of France in "Operation Dragoon" and would land at "Delta-Beach" near Sainte Maxime, France.

The contents of this video show the action as was recorded by the 163rd Signal Photo Company, during these historic operations. The footage in this video is intended to be strictly that of the 45th Infantry Division and only shows other unit footage when two or more units are intertwined Combat Reels has researched and compiled all of this raw combat film footage, then reformatted it into the DVD format for your viewing pleasure.

The first clips show men of the 45th Division loading equipment and ammunition for the invasion near Naples, Italy. Next troops are launched from their transport ships and assault the beaches from their LCVPs. Soldiers continue to push inland to reach Rains, then cross the Durance River and then take the towns of Pertius, Manosque, and Apt, France. Next the 45th Moves through Bourg-en-Bresse and into Epinal, where they cross the Moselle River while engineers work on a Bailey bridge. Watch as 2nd Lt. Barfoot receives the Congressional Medal of Honor from General Patch. The series closes out with General Eagles and the 45th HQ being visited by Generals Marshall, Devers, Patch, and Truscott.
